Hey, what’s up fiends? I was browsing the web when I came across an article on Mediatakeout about the new Wale “Pretty Girls” video. They posted a video by Joy Daily bashing Wale about his latest project. She goes on and on about how she thinks that the video is wrong and how there were not enough black women in the video. She criticizes Wale for not casting enough girls who fit her ideas of “blackness”. Mediatakeout then went and backed her by captioning her video as “And here is a very insightful young lady who very eloquently expresses sentiments which we share.” So Mediatakeout, please enlighten us all since we know that you guys are the beacons of light which enlighten the black community and restructure our skewed paradigms, why is she right? The beat behind the song is not African as Ms Daily so inaccurately stated, its actually gogo inspired. The video had plenty of women that could immediately be recognized as African American, but that was never discussed. By agreeing with Ms Daily’s jaded opinions you in fact put yourselves out there as racist. Ms Daily made a statement about seeing girls in the video who are as dark as the rappers. So you are agreeing with her and saying that because Wale is dark skinned he now has a personal responsibility to go out and look for girls who are as dark as he is? In a very ironic twist of fate, it seems that you feel that all rappers must either look like T.I. or they now have to make sure that all the girls in their videos pass a equally discriminatory “reversed brown paper bag test”. Come on Joy/Mediatakeout…think before you speak.
